Highland Toffee

This is a nice recipe very much like the famous Toffee bar you can purchase on the store shelves in the UK.

This is a nice recipe very much like the famous Highland Toffee bar you can purchase on the store shelves in the UK.

It is difficult to cut or break once cooled so, unless you really want a huge block of it to suck on, try pouring it into the bottoms of muffin tins, so that each piece is a certain size around.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 3/4 cup golden syrup
  • 1 x 300 ml tin Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk

Method

1) Bring to boil in heavy pot (MEDIUM Heat).

2) Boil hard, stirring constantly until toffee threads in cold water (about 20 minutes).

3)Pour onto buttered baking sheet.

4) Cool.

5)) Turn sheet upside down and break into pieces.

As a treat nuts may be added to pan before toffee is poured but this is no longer like traditional Highland Toffee.
